While the concept of truly “sustainable” products is elusive, we are dedicated to the next best thing: creating products with responsibility, longevity, and versatility at the forefront. Our aim is to produce items that stand the test of time, reducing the need for frequent replacements. We recognize that the journey towards minimizing our environmental impact is ongoing, and we are steadfast in our commitment to continually learn, improve, and share our progress every step of the way.

PROCESS

We work primarily with vegetable-tanned leather—a method that relies on natural tannins and a slower, more deliberate process.

It allows the material to retain its character, aging gradually and developing a patina over time. No heavy chemical coating, no artificial correction—just leather in its most honest form.

We partner with tanneries that meet local standards and share our approach to responsible production. Not as a claim, but as a baseline.

For us, this is not about following a trend.

It’s about choosing a process that respects the material,
and allows it to endure.

sUPPORTING LOCAL ARTISANS

Our work is rooted in Yogyakarta, a place long shaped by craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

We collaborate with skilled artisans, many of whom have honed their craft over generations. In a changing market, where mass-produced alternatives are increasingly dominant, their work often goes overlooked.

Walklo exists, in part, to continue that lineage.

We work closely, produce in small scale, and prioritize fair value for their skills. Most of our process remains manual—not as a limitation, but as a choice to preserve quality and intention in every piece.
